A Northwest Airlines jet carrying 40 passengers was evacuated today in Wisconsin after smoke was spotted near the wheel.
Flight 428 traveling was en route from Minneapolis to LaCrosse Municipal airport when landing tower employee spotted the smoke.

I'd start with "Forty passengers were evacuated" instead of the airline's name. Otherwise, it's better.
